Please can you help?

Describe a moment when you felt welcome in a parish (what, why, how?)

What does the parish do to welcome newcomers and encourage them to return?

How does the parish sustain a welcome to longer standing parishioners?

How are different family types, situations and stages made to feel at home in the parish? Give an example.

Read some stories

We are looking for stories about parishes that are warm, welcoming, friendly or sensitive to marriage and family life to share as part of the Everybody's Welcome initiative.

We know that there are already many parishes like this and we think their stories could help other parishes during this initiative. If you know a parish that manages to make people feel welcome and want to return please write and tell us about them. The questions on the left may help but don't feel you have to answer these.

Please feel free to respond in any way convenient to you. (Fewer words are better than many, so long as we know who to contact should we need more information.)

Please note that we want to acknowledge family as a 'cradle to grave' life long experience, which is variously lived alone, with parents, with a spouse, with children, with extended family, with adopted or other members not related by blood. This understanding is based on the reality we heard about during Listening 2004: My Family My Church, a reality of blessed, broken, living love.

Please send your stories to: Everybody's Welcome Working Group, Marriage and Family Life Project Office, CBCEW, 39 Eccleston Square, London SW1V 1BX or by email. Thank you for any help you can give.
